.RU, .РФ and .SU: service changes and migration to DomainShop.ru

Openprovider will discontinue registrar services for .RU, .РФ and .SU domain names after December 2nd, 2026. This decision follows changes to the registry requirements for accredited registrars of these extensions, which Openprovider will not be in a position to meet on a continuing basis.
To help ensure continuity of service for your affected domains, we are in the process of arranging their transition to the registrar DomainShop.ru, who will be able to provide ongoing support for your domain names.

This page explains what is changing, the key dates to keep in mind, and what (if anything) you need to do.

General Questions


Do I need to do anything?
Unless you tell us otherwise, your affected .RU, .РФ and .SU domain names will be transitioned to DomainShop.ru for continued management and support. You are not required to use DomainShop.ru. You remain free to transfer your domain name(s) to another registrar or service provider of your choice.


Can I transfer to a registrar of my choice instead?
If you do not want your domain name(s) to be transitioned to DomainShop.ru, please email support@openprovider.com before November 15th, 2026 and tell us you wish to make alternative arrangements. We will support you with the necessary steps to transfer the affected domain name(s) to another provider. If we do not receive any objection or alternative transfer instructions from you before the transition, we will treat your non-response as acceptance of the proposed transition of your affected domain name(s) to DomainShop.ru.
In case the domains have not been successfully transferred out before the 2nd of December, they will be migrated to DomainShop.ru.


DomainShop.ru’s website is in Russian. Can they communicate in English?
Yes. While the public website (https://domainshop.ru) is currently only available in Russian, DomainShop.ru does offer English-language support:

  • The management system is available at https://my.domainshop.ru once your account has been created and has an English version.
  • You can submit support tickets in English and will receive replies in English.


Does DomainShop.ru offer a trustee service?
No, DomainShop.ru does not offer a trustee service itself. You are, however, free to arrange your own trustee. You can choose any trustee provider you like and use their address as the registrant’s contact information, as long as it meets the registry’s requirements.

Please keep in mind the following for .RU, .РФ and .SU domains:

  • The registrant’s address is taken directly from the Gosuslugi (ESIA) profile. This means ESIA verification needs to be completed before you can manage your domains — this also applies when you use a trustee, as the trustee’s details will need to be verified.
  • If ESIA verification is not completed, you won’t be able to manage the domains. The domains themselves stay active — they will not be suspended or deleted for this reason. This is correct to the best of our current knowledge; please note that the registry can change its rules at any time, so we cannot fully guarantee this going forward.

These requirements come from the registry’s new, stricter rules for Russian domains. They are set by the registry, and unfortunately not something Openprovider or DomainShop.ru can change on your behalf.


After the migration, do I keep one reseller account, and can I keep managing my customers’ domains?
Yes. As a reseller, you will receive access to your own account at DomainShop.ru and remain the reseller for your customers’ domains. DomainShop.ru sends the access information to you (the reseller), not to each individual registrant, so you can continue to manage your customers’ domains as before.


Technical Questions

Does DomainShop.ru offer an API connection?
Yes. DomainShop.ru provides an API, with documentation available at https://api.domainshop.ru/doc/.
The documentation is currently only available in Russian. If you’d like to read it in another language, you can use a translation tool such as Google Translate.


Do they support DNSSEC?
Yes, that is supported.

How can I transfer a domain to a new owner? Do I need to send notarized documents?
DomainShop.ru offers several options for changing the domain administrator (owner). The right approach depends on your situation, so we recommend contacting the DomainShop.ru support team, who will guide you through the available options.


What happens to my domain’s expiry date after the transfer?
Nothing changes — your domain keeps the same expiry date after the migration to DomainShop.ru.

Can I get authorization (auth) codes in bulk to transfer my domains to another registrar?
Yes. If you are moving your domains to another registrar and need the authorization codes, please contact our support team. We can send the auth codes directly to you as the reseller, rather than to each individual registrant’s email address.

What are the prices at DomainShop.ru?
You can find DomainShop.ru’s pricing on their website at https://domainshop.ru/services/. Prices are listed in Russian Rubles (RUB).
The page is in Russian, so we recommend using a translation tool to view it in another language.

Does DomainShop.ru accept payments from companies outside Russia?
Yes. DomainShop.ru accepts payments from companies and customers outside Russia.

 

Which payment methods are available for customers outside Russia?
DomainShop.ru supports the following payment methods for customers outside Russia:
