Welcome to our latest Newsflash. We bring you a lot of the latest news. There are some changes in domain prices, new discounts available, and brand new products that you can use to get an advantage over the competition.

Openprovider.com gets refreshed

In a few days you might notice that our website opens faster, looks lighter, and is easier to navigate. We are optimizing our website to deliver you a better experience when using the website. We hope you will enjoy the new look, and if you have any feedback or suggestions, please let us know.

New product in Openprovider- BuildMyLogo

We released the Build My Logo product for our Resellers in the Control Panel. Thanks to the cooperation with our Partner BuildMyLogo we delivered a great product for our Resellers that allows you to design and create logotypes for your Customers’ businesses. BuildMyLogo can be accessed from the Reseller Control Panel. The payment and logotypes management is conducted directly on BuildMyLogo website. Check it out!

New multiyear variants for SSL certificates

It is now possible to order additional period variants for SSLs - 3, 4 and 5 years. For most SSL certificates in Openprovider offer it is now possible to choose additional period variants -  3, 4 and 5 years. Buying for a longer period is a great way to get a better price for a selected certificate and also reduce the churn rate from the Customers who are deciding to purchase it for a longer period.

New certificate types in Openprovider

We have added S/MIME and Code Signing certificates to the offer! New certificates from Sectigo are already available in the Openprovider offer! Both products are available to purchase from the Reseller Control Panel and with our public API. Donuts price increase on October 4, 2022

Donuts registry will increase the price for 199 TLDs on October 4, 2022. The majority of TLDs will receive a wholesale price increase of 7%.

New .be validation for Dutch private registrants

Last month, dnsbelgium implemented a new .be domain validation system for Belgian private individuals. After a successful few weeks, and following their plans, .be domains that require validation that belong to Dutch private registrants will be able to be validated using iDIN or itsme easily and automatically. Mother's Day promotion!

XYZ registry will celebrate Mother's Day with a big promotion for new 1st year  .MOM, .BABY and .FLOWERS domain registrations!

.kids, new child-friendly TLD

The new .kids domain extension has started its Sunrise Phase, and as always, you can register it at Openprovider!

There are no special requirements to register a .kids domain. Anyone can register and use this domain extension. Domain names can be within 1 and 63 characters in length, and it is possible to register a domain for a period between 1 and 10 years. 

Sunrise registrations have started on August 11, 2022, for trademarks registered in the Trademark Clearing House. We are a TMCH agent, so you can have your trademark registered with us using your Reseller Control Panel.

This new domain extension is a great choice for websites about products, services, and infotainment for children, as well as for websites by parents or children's rights organizations. Don’t miss this opportunity and start selling this TLD with us.

Changes to .UK lifecycle

On Sep 13, 2022, Nominet will apply changes to the 2nd and 3rd level .UK domains, creating a new “pendingDelete” period of 5 days at the end of the life cycle.

The main difference with the current situation will be that, once the quarantine expires, the domain will be inactive for 5 days without an option to be restored, before it is released. With this move, the registry will standardize the domain's life cycle to make it more similar to gTLDs.

.net price increase

Verisign has announced a new price increase for February 1, 2023 for .NET domain names. The new price will be $9.92 (excluding the ICANN fee).

As .net domains can be registered for a period of up to 10 years, consider registering or renewing your .net domains before the 1st of February 2023. Time is of the essence. Big savings are at stake!

Chartered accountants can claim their own domain

NIXI, the registry of .in, has announced a special promotion for the .ca.in extension!
The promotion will run for a long period of time: 27th July 2022 to 31st March 2023. During this period, one-year registrations of .ca.in are available for just INR 249!

Things are getting hotter here!

The .spa Registry is running a promotion for the month of September. During this month, Members can register .spa domains for just $12.10.

.gal October promotion

The .gal registry is running a special promotion in the month of October (3rd October - 17th October)
During this period, 1-year-registrations of .gal domains are available for just €9 (excluding the ICANN fee).

ShortDot BOOM

ShortDot will be releasing more than 2.4 million names across all five of their extensions :.icu, .bond, .cyou, .cfd, and .sbs.
Starting on September 1st, 2022, first and last names, city names, dictionary terms, and more will be released across all five of ShortDot’s extensions.

.eus renewal price revision

From today on, the price for the renewal of .eus will be revised and will be brought down to 25 EUR for non-Members. We encourage you to take advantage of this lower price!

This is the season of .giving!

.giving, the newest TLD from PIR, has been in Landrush since 20th December 2022. General Availability will start on 20th January 2023 at 16:00 UTC! You can read more about this new extension here.

Reminder: .bank & .insurance Compliance Escalation Policy Update

A kind reminder to all our customers with .bank and .insurance domains in their portfolio. Starting next year, registry, fTLD will apply their new Registrant Domain Name Compliance Escalation and Suspension Policy. 

The policy can be viewed here. For more detailed information, please refer to this FAQ from the registry.

fTLD will begin sending compliance escalation notifications in January 2023 for compliance findings that are not resolved within a period of 30 days and 60 days. 

Please note that these escalation notices will be sent to the domain owner (registrant), the verification contact of the respective .bank / .insurance domain, and to the registrar of the record.

Compliance findings that are not resolved within 60 days as specified in the policy will be suspended (i.e., placed on Registrar clientHold or Registry severHold), resulting in the deactivation of the .bank/.insurance domain's website and email.

Important: fTLD will explicitly inform registrants of the new Policy's implementation date.

Price increase + special discount for .nl

Due to the current inflation, SIDN (.nl registry) has announced a larger price increase for 2023 compared to other years. The new Member price for .nl registrations will be €3.76, while the new non-Member price will be €4.50. This price increase is set to take effect on 1 January 2023.

At Openprovider, we want you to be able to grow your portfolio, in spite of the inflation. SIDN is currently applying different volume discounts, which we want to pass onto all Members. This year, Members therefore get to benefit from a special discount on .nl domain names, depending on the size of their Membership plan. These special discounts will start taking effect on 1 January 2023 as well.

The larger your Membership plan, the larger the discount you will enjoy. You can benefit from a discount up to 8%. You can consult the overview of prices and discounts here. You will be refunded the price difference every quarter.

These prices and discounts will take effect on 1 January 2023. Right now, we recommend you to take advantage of the current, lower prices by registering your new .nl domains and renewing your existing ones before the price increase is set to take effect. 

Price increase for Plesk

Plesk has also announced a new price increase for their licenses of around 22%. You can find all new prices for Plesk in this document. These prices will be effective starting on 1 January 2023.

What's new?

The new Sandbox environment is finally available

There is a new Sandbox environment available for our API. The Sandbox environment can be used to test our REST API. It’s a safe and easy way to familiarize yourself with its functionalities before moving your integration to production.

Using the Sandbox, you can try various operations, including domain search, registration, listing the most recent transactions or creating a new contact handle. 

This testing platform is replacing the previous CTE (customer testing environment). You can find more details in this Knowledge Base article.

Buy aftermarket domains from Afternic through Openprovider

We recently launched a new feature to buy domains from the SEDO Aftermarket platform. We already mentioned before that we would be adding more platforms for this soon - so this week, we are proud to announce that you can now also buy aftermarket domains from Afternic through Openprovider.

Afternic is one of the biggest Aftermarket platforms, where anyone can list their domain for sale. Now you can buy domains listed on Afternic directly from the Openprovider platform, through the control panel, the API and our website.

You can search for any domain name listed in SEDO or Afternic with a fixed price (no auctions) while specifying the TLD, and buy like a normal domain purchase. After your purchase, the new domain will be transferred to your Openprovider account. Simple and easy!

 .cn registry has postponed the implementation of new contact validation policies.  As per our previous communication, their initial idea was to start applying the new policies now,  but they have paused the process. Right now, the validation is not being implemented, and we are waiting for a new date of release. We will keep you updated!

.blog premium promotion extension

.blog registry has extended the promotion for premium domain name registrations. You will be able to register .blog PREMIUM domain names with a 75% discount until December 31, 2022! What a great year to help the world start a .blog!

.DAY in General Availability!

.cyou price increase

From April 15, 2022, ShortDot will increase the price for .cyou TLD. The new price will be $4.18 for members.

.gal promotion

From 1st to 28th of February, all 2-year .gal registrations will be at ​​13,99€ for members, and 14,99€ for non-members.

.cn policy changes

From 1st January 2022, the .cn registry will implement a new policy in order to have more control over the registrants' identity. That is why it will apply new validations from registrants of new domains, but also from current ones that they consider have not passed validation. In the forthcoming days, we will contact resellers who have domains that require some extra validation, for now, you do not have to take any action.

.WIKI promotion

From January 1 to 31, 2022, all .wiki 1st year new registrations will be at $4.99 for members and $6.99 for non-members.

Our prices just keep getting better

Our commitment to seeing our members grow with us and helping them maximize their profit has led us to adjust the prices of five of our extensions. This is the result of our quarterly cost price review, created with the aim of trying to adjust prices as much as possible:

.ae → from AED 114.17 to AED 110.71 (create/renew/transfer)

.de → from 2.62 to €2.61 (renew/transfer)

.de → from €3.59 to €3.58 (create)

.dk → from DKK 49.11 to DKK 49.14 (create/renew/transfer)

.cz → from CZK 201.45 to CZK 188.86 (create/renew/transfer)

.uk → from GBP 2.51 to GBP 3.90 (create/renew/transfer)

Verisign .com price hike on 1st of September

Verisign has announced a price increase on its .com extension, effective from the 1st of September 2022.

The new price for Members will be $9.15 (for registrations, renewals, and transfers). The new price for non-members will be $9.15 for domain registrations and transfers and $14.57 for renewals. For Members, the current price is $8.77 (for registration, renewals, and transfers). For non-Members, the current prices are $8.77 for registration and transfers and $14.31 for renewal.

This is the second price increase that .com has seen since 2012 when a fixed price was agreed on between Verisign and ICANN. However, two years ago, Verisign renegotiated its contract and was allowed 4 price increases of 7% until 2024.

As .com domains can be registered for a period of up to 10 years, consider registering or renewing your .com domains before the 1st of September 2022. Time is of the essence. Big savings are at stake!

Hot prices from .design

The .design registry is running a promotion from 1st July to 30th September for .tattoo, .ink, .gay, .wiki.
These 4 TLDs will be available for just $3.49 in the above period! This price is only valid for new registrations.

.SC prices have an amazing discount

The .SC registry is offering .SC for $79 in the second half of the year!
This price will be applicable from 1st July 2022 to 31st December 2022!

The registry is running a promotion for .top (26th June 2022  to 31st August 2022)
First year registration price in the period is just $0.79!
Consecutive multi year registrations / renewals / transfers in this period are available for  $3.43 / year.

Six winners will have a budget of €5000 for marketing campaigns, receive an educational package and a badge for their websites.  Finalists will be revealed on 1st of September, and we will know the winners on 17 November. In the next couple of days we will release new product that a lot of our Resellers have been asking and waiting for - EasyDMARC. It is a complete suite to manage your domain security and protect your business and reputation from phishing attacks and bad actors. EasyDMARC allows you to create DMARC, DKIM, SPF and BIMI records on just one dashboard, monitor your IP and domain reputation and receive aggregated reports to control over the emails being sent on owner’s behalf. End of registry approval for .madrid domains

As you may know, .madrid domain registrations have to be approved by the registry, this means, the domain is not active until the registry approves the domain.  But we have good news! From June 17th, .madrid domain registrations will be conducted in real time, without the prior review process by the registry, so domains will be active as soon as the domain is registered!

ShortDot's Premium Name bonanza!

Prepare to save the most money on premium domain names across all five of ShortDot's extensions! For the next three months, ShortDot is providing 75% off all premium .icu, .bond, .cyou, .cfd, and .sbs domain names! From June 1st until August 31st, 2022, the Premium Names Bonanza will take place.

AFNIC TLDs price change

AFNIC will make a price change on July 1st for their ccTLDs: .fr/.re/.pm/.yt/.tf/.wf. This is a price reduction and the new member price will be €4,64. Take advantage of this price change and apply this reduction to your end customers to get more domain registrations!

Huge price drops in Africa!

From 1 July 2022 onwards the wholesale price of all dotCities (.capetown, .durban, .joburg) registrations will be reduced to R55.00 for all member registrations, also the renewals will be reduced to R50.00. Premium prices will also decrease. The wholesale price of .africa registrations will also decrease to USD $3.80 for all domain name registrations for members, and premium prices will also decrease for all premium name registrations beginning July 1, 2022.

GoDaddy TLDs price increase

GoDaddy Registry has announced price changes for .biz, .club, .design, .luxe, .abogado, .casa and .co (premium domains) that will be applied on September 1, 2022:

For .co premium domains (2nd level TLD only) in “TIER 100”, the new registration price will be increased. Remember that for all premium domains, you will be the price using our API or RCP.

The registry has also announced new restore price increases for .design, .miami, .boston, .abogado, .fit, .fashion, .beer, .wedding, .yoga, .garden, .surf, .horse, .vodka, .cooking, .casa, .work, .fishing, .law, .rodeo, .luxe. The new restore price will be:  $40.00

Arriba la primavera! (.cat spring promotion)

Fundació puntCAT will be running a promotion for .cat TLD from March 21st to May 2nd for new 1 year registrations, with a selling price of €4 for members and €5 for non-members. Don’t miss this opportunity to reach more Catalan-speaking customers!

TLDs that stop working

.spreadbetting, .org.uz and mo.bi TLDs have stopped working and will no longer be supported by their registries. .cu has also stopped accepting new domain registrations, but your current domains can still be renewed and transferred.

Due to the current situation, our provider for .su TLD has stopped offering domains under this TLD, so we will stop offering .su domain registrations and transfers. All current .su domains will continue to work as usual, and will be able to be renewed and updated.

New contact verification process for .be domains

dnsbelgium (.be registry) will apply new contact validation policies for Belgian individual registrants. Once a domain is registered, the registrant will receive an email with a link to validate data. The validation will be possible via “itsme” or “eID Card Reader”.

This will only affect registrations from Belgian individuals. If the registration is from another type of registrant, the flow will be as usual. Find more information on ourKnowledge Base.

Most of our Resellers received invitations to answer a set of questions in a survey. We already have dozens of responses which will be a huge help to decide which direction the new product category should take.

Upcoming price changes

.cu domain registrations open again!

Some months ago, we had to stop .cu domain registrations due to a registry problem. The registry confirms now that everything is fine, so you can register .cu domains again!

Trustee service for 3rd level .BR domains

We are offering trustee (domicile) service for 3rd level .BR domains. If the domain owner is not located in Brazil, you can now register 3rd level .BR domains with our trustee service. The cost for members is ​​only 32.50 BRL.

Price decrease for .re, .pm, .yt, .tf, .wf TLDs

From July 1st 2022, July 1 AFNIC’s TLDs .re, .pm, .yt, .tf, .wf will experience a price decrease to €4.61 for create, renew and transfer operations.

.ONG and .NGO will be unbundled on June 1, 2022

From June 1, .ONG and .NGO TLDs will be unbundled. This means these TLDs will not be registered together when you register a domain for one of these TLDs. The price will also be divided in half and will be completely independent:

- .ONG create price for members: $15

- .NGO create price for members: $15

Domains registered before this date will remain bundled and mirrored.

gTLDs explicit deletion changes

As we communicated by email some weeks ago, we unified Soft Quarantine and Hard Quarantine for some gTLD domains into a single Soft Quarantine of 40 days.

We heard your feedback, and we implemented a Hard Quarantine of 28 days for explicit deletions. So, if you explicitly delete a gTLD domain, you will have 28 days to restore it, paying the restore fee. This change only applies for explicitly deleted gTLD domains, if the domain is expired, already communicated single Soft Quarantine period of 40 days will apply. You can check the list of gTLDs we communicatedhere.

DNSbelgium verification process open to all suspicious domains

As you may know, DNSbelgium applied an online verification system for suspicious domains for Dutch and Belgian private individuals. Now they opened the online verification for all suspicious domains, no matter where the registrant lives.

If a registrant registered a suspicious domain, he/she will have to validate his/her identity using a service called Onfido, if it’s from outside The Netherlands or Belgium. In the case of registrations for companies, a contact person from the company will handle the verification.

The verification process is very simple. In case the registry marked the domain as suspicious, the registrant will receive an email with an online form. After following all the steps, the domain will be active.

Important updates for .AF domains

Due to political changes in Afghanistan, AFGNIC (.AF registry) cannot accept payments from international registrars. This means we cannot accept new registrations, transfers, or explicit renewals for .AF domains.

But, to support you, all .AF domains in your portfolio will not expire until further notice.  You can find all details in our Knowledge Base:here.

Last days to register .CHANNEL in Sunrise phase

On 7th June, Sunrise Phase for .CHANNEL will end. If you have a trademark, you can register a .CHANNEL domain for only $10. You only have to open a Support ticket with the TMCH Signed Mark Data (“SMD”) file and the name you want to register.

With effect from 1 December 2022, the following extensions will undergo a revision in prices:

  • .hu: registration and renewal will be €10.71 for Members and €18.90 for non-Members.
  • .eco: registration will be $55 for Members and $111 for non-Members.
  • .one: registration will be $16.99 for Members and $30 for non-Members.

On top of this, the following extensions are set to undergo price changes in the next months:

.eus Black Friday & Cyber Monday Promo

.eus, from Puntueus Fundazioa, is running a special discount for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Between 23 November and 4 December, one-year registrations of .eus will be just €2.18.

Changes announced by .hu registry

The .hu registry has made some changes in the workflow of domain registration. From now on, all .hu registrations, including failed ones, will be fully billed. Our partner has implemented an advanced feature to deal with this. In case of incorrect or incomplete data, our partner’s proxy data will be used to ensure the successful completion of all new .hu registrations. This means that new registration requests can no longer fail or expire and will always be processed successfully. Refunds are no longer available.

Once a .hu registration request is submitted and processed with proxy data, it is easy to update it with the correct registrant data. You can do this by sending appropriate documents with proof to our support team. Data correction is free of charge and should be done within a maximum of 3 months after the registration. This new process is already active in our system.

Apart from this, one-year registrations will become available for .hu domainsstarting on December 1, 2022. Currently, only a registration term of 2 years is possible. Renewal periods, however, remain the same.

Quarantine changes for .nz

From now on, .nz will have new periods for soft and hard quarantine. These changes have been made in effect with the recent registry database migration. The new soft quarantine term will be 42 days, and the new hard quarantine term will be 90 days. If you want to know more, please consult this Knowledge Base article.

What's new?

Openprovider introduces new payment methods for Indian users

This month, we have introduced new payment methods for Indian users in the RCP. These new methods include credit card payments, Netbanking and UPI. The addition of these new payment methods has made the top-up process significantly faster.

All three payment options have been added to the "Add money" page within the RCP. Simply select the payment option of your choice, choose the amount that you want to top up your balance with, and complete the payment. Your balance will be topped up immediately.

.LAT migration to CentralNic

The technical migration of .LAT to XYZ's registry backend (CentralNic Registry) is scheduled for October 26, 2022. Except for the backend transition, no modifications will be made during the migration. The migration will take 38 hours, beginning at 05:00 UTC on October 25 and ending at 19:00 UTC on October 26, 2022.

.BANK and .INSURANCE compliance escalation policy update

Starting next year, fTLD will apply their new Registrant Domain Name Compliance Escalation and Suspension Policy. The policy can be viewed here. For more detailed information, please refer to this FAQ from the registry.
fTLD will begin sending compliance escalation notifications in January 2023 for compliance findings that are not resolved within a period of 30 days and 60 days. Please note that these escalation notices will go to the domain owner (Registrant), the verification contact of the respective .BANK / .INSURANCE domain, and to the registrar of the record.

Compliance findings that are not resolved within 60 days as specified in the policy will be suspended (i.e., placed on Registrar clientHold or Registry severHold), resulting in the deactivation of the.BANK/.INSURANCE domain's website and email.
Important: fTLD will explicitly inform registrants of the new Policy's implementation date.

.BOO and .RSVP announced

Google Registry announced their 2 new extensions: .BOO and .RSVP. Both TLDs will have a Sunrise phase from October 4, 2022 to November 7, 2022, and General Availability from November 15, 2022.

Requirements will be the same as other Google Registry TLDs (SSL certificate required), with a very similar price: $8 for General Availability, and $7.8 for Sunrise!

Remember that Sunrise registrations are for trademarks registered in the Trademark Clearing House. We are a TMCH agent, so you can have your trademark registered with us using your Reseller Control Panel!

We will support all phases in our Reseller Control Panel and API, so don’t miss this opportunity and start selling these TLDs with us.

Free DNS zone changes

From 4th of October 2022, it will no longer be possible to park a domain name registered outside of Openprovider on our free DNS Servers. The servers will be reserved only for domains coming from Openprovider. We have to make this decision in order to assure the safety of our customers and to be able to provide uninterrupted access to our services. If you do have an external domain name parked on the Free DNS Server, we suggest transferring it to Openprovider, or redirecting it to another DNS server before the 4th of October.

Upcoming domain price changes

On October 4th 199 Donuts TLDS will have their prices changed. On February the 1st, 2023 .net will change it's price. (Remember, you can check all the details about these price changes in previous newsletters)

New design for product purchase and subscription management pages in Reseller Control Panel

Spoiler alert! In the coming weeks we plan to make a huge overhaul for the user interface for selected products in the Reseller Control Panel.  We plan to vastly improve ordering and subscription management for Plesk, SSL certificates and SpamExperts. The new design will be aligned with the overall look and feel of our Reseller Control Panel and be on par with market standards if it comes for similar pages.
