# Newsletter April 2021

April showers are pouring down and so are some of our prices! Everything you need to know this month is right here.

## **Openprovider members are in for a treat!**

Our commitment to seeing our members grow with us and helping them maximize their profit has led us to lower the prices of three of our extensions. The new prices will ‘go live’ on the 1st of April 2021:

**Extension**

**Current price**

**Price from the 1st of April**

.ae

AED 120.00

AED 118.52

.dk

DKK 41.76

DKK 41.52

.cz

CZK 252.00

CZK 223.00

If you already have an Openprovider membership plan, you’ll immediately profit from these prices; however, if you haven’t, you’ll first need to join the banana family and become a member!

[Just log in to your account](https://openprovider.eu/signup?__hstc=3456879.50d702c2f1fc8ee98c9b397bef612231.1636359140982.1642598282390.1642600718120.156&__hssc=3456879.2.1642600718120&__hsfp=147582486), [choose a membership plan](https://openprovider.com/membership-plans/) and you’ll be on the right path! Our members pay what we pay for domains and get [exclusive prices and discounts](https://openprovider.com/membership-plans/special-prices-in-membership/) all year long.

**.uk now supports transfer locks**

Nominet (registry) now supports transfer locks for any .uk domain name, including the second level domains .co.uk, .org.uk, .me.uk and .ltd.uk. This functionality is similar to the transfer locks from other extensions like .com, but due to the nature of Nominet’s registration system the scope is slightly different.

While for most extensions the gaining registrar initiates the transfer, a .uk domain transfer is initiated by the losing registrar instead, by changing the so-called IPS tag of the domain name to the tag of the new registrar.

However, if a .uk domain is locked, this change can’t be made. The losing (current) registrar will first need to unlock the domain name in order to then change the IPS tag.

There is one exception to this rule though! The domain holder, through his own online services panel on nominet.uk, can change the IPS tag even if the domain name has an active transfer lock. Why? Because a registrant-initiated tag change is a registry operation and not a registrar operation.

**.com prices are going up**

Verisign has announced a price increase on its .com extension, effective from the 1st of September 2021. The new price for Members will be $8.57; the new price for Tiers will range from $9.29 to $9.49 for new registrations and transfers, and from $9.49 to $15.49 for renewals.

Please remember that during the full year 2021, *all* our customers can register and transfer their .com domains at Member price! Until the 1st of September, this is $8.03; from the 1st of September this price will automatically change to $8.57.

This is the first price increase that .com has seen since 2012, when a fixed price was agreed on between Verisign and ICANN. However, last year Verisign renegotiated its contract and was allowed 4 price increases of 7% until 2024.

As .com domains can be registered for a period of up to 10 years, you should really consider transferring or renewing your .com domains before the 1st of September 2021. Time is of the essence. Big savings are at stake!

**Hosting Infrascan has arrived!**

Internet security is very important to us and we know that secure hosting environments play a major role in making the internet a safer place. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for hosting providers to increase their infrastructure security.

This is why we’re excited to introduce the[Hosting Infrascan](https://www.hostinginfrascan.nl/). A joint solution developed by SIDN and the Registrars Association (VvR), making it affordable and easy for you to scan your infrastructure and map and assess its risks.

The Hosting Infrascan offers:

- independent insight into your infrastructure’s weak spots (Apache, MySQL, FTP, etc.)
- information to help you take the right actions and mitigate weak spots
- direct insight through scan results on a clear dashboard
- independent information reports for customers, boards, the data protection authority, etc.
- the possibility to import IP numbers and to enter them manually
- the possibility to check for IPv4 and IPv6.

We now offer you this service for only € 50 to set it up and € 2.50 per scanned server. For each scanned server you also receive a second scan, which enables you to check how much your infrastructure security has improved after mitigating actions have been performed.

Click[here](https://www.hostinginfrascan.nl/home/register/) if you want to contribute to making the Internet a safer place!

The scan is executed and coordinated by[Threadstone](https://www.threadstone.eu/), SIDN’s and the Registrar Association’s cyber security partner in this project. Please mention that Openprovider is your registrar in your application.

**Ahoy sailor! A price increase has been spotted for .xyz and .dk**

The registries of .xyz and .dk have announced price increases on their extensions:

- .xyz prices are going up by $0.56 on the 1st of September 2021. This price change will apply to all Member and Tier prices.
- the Danish registry is raising the price for .dk domain names by DKK 8.00 on the 3rd of May 2021, making the new Member price DKK 49.52. All Tier prices will increase by DKK 8.00 as well.

**.cd domain registrations are currently unavailable!**

Until further notice, registration of new .cd domain names (Democratic Republic of Congo) is not possible because of a [transition of the registry’s back-end](http://www.nic.cd/nic.cd/). It’s unclear how long this situation will last for, but it’s expected to go on for several months. As soon as we have more information we’ll update you through our regular channels!

**.eu Brexit update: restores are still possible**

On the 1st of July, EURid (Registry) implemented the next step of its Brexit procedure: all .eu domain names that were registered by registrants of the United Kingdom or Gibraltar have now been withdrawn. Those domain names had already been suspended on the 1st of January. Contrary to the registry’s original plans, they have made it possible to recover a withdrawn domain name (even after the 1st of July) by its last holder in exceptional cases, provided they can present registration data that meets the .eu eligibility criteria.

If the last holder of a domain name wants to recover it, they must contact EURid directly and follow the recovery procedure. This means that they will have to submit a request to be evaluated by EURid. If granted, EURid will activate the domain name with the provided registration data by moving it to a dedicated EURid Brexit holding account. The status of the domain name will be updated to ‘registered’, and a one-year period will be added to the registration.

The domain name holder will then be invited to log in to their My.eu account (using the email address provided in the request) and will obtain a transfer authorisation code that can be shared with Openprovider for a regular transfer.

An active Brexit domain name that has not been transferred to an accredited registrar by the 31st of December 2021 will be revoked with the rest of the Brexit-withdrawn domain names, and subsequently made available for general registration on the 1st of January 2022.

**Upcoming price change to general promotions**

As of August 16, the general promotions that you can find at openprovider.promo will undergo a price change, you can check them from August 16. If you have any questions, please contact sales@openprovider.com.

**The new signup flow is now live!**

On Thursday, 15th of July, the Openprovider team released the new RCP (Reseller Control Panel) signup flow. The new signup flow is available on all devices and has a completely new user interface. We have reduced the amount of information requested from each user and separated the signup flow for business users and personal users.

The new signup represents a first step towards the broad expansion of Openprovider: we want to serve more and more markets with our memberships and offers.

**Openprovider Telegram Stickers are here to stay!**

Did you know that the Openprovider mascot, Rocky the Banana, has jumped to telegram in the shape of amazing and fun stickers?

All you need to do is go to [https://tlgrm.eu/stickers](https://tlgrm.eu/stickers) and type in ‘Openprovider’.

You can do the same on your mobile phone: open telegram, navigate to stickers, click on the Plus button to add stickers and type ‘Openprovider’ in the search bar. Have fun and go bananas!

**Try our new Domain Checker**

Bored of waiting for results when searching for domain name availability? Want to quickly see all available domain names for your search term? Then try our new domain checker!

Speed is the first big improvement: you no longer have to wait for the full list in order to scroll down – you can easily scroll to any position on the list to find the domains you want to have. Together with a cleaner user interface, this will greatly improve the user experience.

On top of that, we have added a sorting option to the results list. Do you want to see the domains that are currently running a promotion or only the lowest priced extensions? Maybe you want the list to be ordered alphabetically, so that you can easily find and select multiple domains for your customers? Everything is possible now.

Other functionalities remain unchanged: you can see the domain prices in the local currency or in your own account currency, you can select multiple domains to check out and you can easily find the premium and promotional domains.

We are fully confident that you will like the new domain checker, so log in to your control panel and [try it out now](https://cp.openprovider.eu/domain/register?__hstc=3456879.50d702c2f1fc8ee98c9b397bef612231.1636359140982.1642527945432.1642591038114.154&__hssc=3456879.3.1642591038114&__hsfp=147582486). In the meantime, we’ll be working on the next improvements, like for example a fully responsive design, rewriting the cart and configuration pages, adding additional sorting and filtering options, improving relevance sorting and adding translations.

2021, a very productive year, comes to an end with many changes towards the upcoming year.

In our last newsletter of 2021, you'll find the most relevant industry news and everything you need to know in order to have a fresh, good, and positive start to 2022.

Read on and get ready for 2022!

## We are removing the old Control Panel interface

The old Control Panel interface will no longer be accessible as of December 20, 2021. Find all the information about this change by clicking[here.](https://openprovider.com/blog/the-old-control-panel-interface-will-be-removed/)

## Notifications for SSL certificates

In the upcoming weeks, we will improve the email notifications system for SSL certificates. The main goal of these changes is to provide more information about the current status of a particular SSL certificate. In addition to the current notifications (which will also be improved), we will add a number of new messages informing about individual statuses of a single certificate, including:

- Failed events, such as renewals, reissue or validation
- New order
- Renewal process has started
- Two Certificate expiration reminders when auto-renewal option is deactivated
- And a few more.

In the future, we want to improve the whole experience further by adding bulk notifications (in the form of daily reports) with a list of all events that happened in the past 24 hours. We will keep you posted.

## Domains, SSL, and Plesk surveys in RCP

We want to know your opinion about domains, certificates, and Plesk.

How? By simply logging in to your RCP and submitting both surveys under respective menus Licenses and SSL certificates. For domains, the survey pops up after domain purchase. Thank you!

## Helping our customers' growth

Techfarm, an Openprovider long-term customer, has launched a new solution for companies handling DNS zones and are looking for a flexible tool to grant access to all domains or to Openprovider’s platform. Interested in reading more?

[Find all the information in this case study.](https://openprovider.com/blog/techfarm-case-study-making-dns-management-simple/)

## New products survey

The survey sent to you a few weeks ago gave us very important actionable feedback. According to the results between these two options:

1. New certificates types, S/MIME and Code Signing
2. New certificate periods (3 to 5 years)

We will prioritise**new certificate types.**Thank you all for your feedback!

Stay tuned for further details on when we will start offering S/MIME and Code Signing certificates.

## Sell Plesk from WHMCS

Now you have the chance to beta test the Openprovider Plesk provisioning module for WHMCS.

If you’re using WHMCS as a billing management solution, now is the time to expand the portfolio of products you’re offering to your customers.[Download our provisioning module](https://github.com/openprovider/op-whmcs-plesk-provisioning-module), install it in your WHMCS instance, and after a quick configuration, you’ll be selling licenses in no time.

## Holiday Office Hours

Our team at Openprovider will also take some time to enjoy this special time of the year with their families and friends. To ensure you can continue getting assistance from our Sales and Support teams when you need it, we commit to remaining available for you via our email channels throughout the holiday season.

However, please keep in mind that our response time via email and phone might be limited due to reduced capacity. For this reason, we advise not to plan any big projects or migrations in this period where our assistance might be required. For example, registry bulk transfers or migration projects can not be processed during the last 2 weeks of the year.

We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to continuing to help your business grow in 2022!

## **Quarterly update Membership prices**

One of our promises with our unique subscription based[ Membership model](https://openprovider.com/membership-plans/) is that we forward any financial advantage, related to the included extensions, to our customers. Not partly, but completely. Every quarter we re-investigate our cost prices and adjust them if necessary.
For the first quarter of 2021 we will change prices of four of our extensions. The new prices are effective from the 13th of January 2021:

## **Security requirements updates for .bank and .insurance**

The .bank- and .insurance-registry fTLD periodically reviews their [security requirements](https://www.ftld.com/security/) to ensure they are in line with best practices for the financial services sector and continue to protect against evolving security threats. This year the majority of changes to the requirements reflect clarifications and do not materially alter them.

- There are two exceptions for requirement #2 (DNSSEC) that DNSSEC must be implemented with strong cryptographic algorithms, and regarding requirement #5 (email authentication), as described below.

- For requirement #4 (encryption), fTLD has included additional information [available here](https://go.ftld.com/tls-implementation) to specify the ports for web services they have always tested and this will continue for the encryption settings as required.
- For requirement #5 (email authentication): fTLD is clarifying that while publishing a DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) record is not required. Publishing both SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM creates additional security for email channels.

**Who is impacted by these changes?**

For registrants who have published DMARC and only DKIM, but not SPF, they will need to add an SPF policy for their .BANK/.INSURANCE domain(s). Registrants who have implemented DNSSEC for their .BANK/.INSURANCE domain(s) should ensure they use strong cryptographic algorithms.

fTLD will automatically notify registrants impacted by these changes.

**How will I know if my customer needs to take action?**

The deadline for registrants, if applicable, to make all necessary modifications to comply with requirement #2 (DNSSEC) and requirement #5 (email authentication) the 12th of February, 2021.

Starting from the 15th of February, 2021 the registry will turn on automated, direct notifications to registrants via a monthly email with a .CSV attachment with findings from their compliance security monitoring for their .BANK/.INSURANCE domain(s) and a warning report (if applicable); the registry will only provide a notification if there are any compliance and/or warning items.

## **Changes to .dk postponed**

The Danish registry has postponed the improvements to the .dk domain registration platform about which we informed you in our [October newsletter](https://openprovider.com/newsletter/newsletter-october-2020/) until further notice. The registry expects to be ready for it in the second quarter of 2021, but an exact date will follow at a later moment.

## **.nl registrant in control of his own personal data**

.nl registry SIDN has taken the next step in protecting the domain holder’s personal data. At this moment, the whois is already restricted, but registrars and few other instances still can request full data for a limited number of domains using the “registrar whois”.

Although there are situations in which this is allowed under GDPR, SIDN decided to restrict personal data sharing as much as possible. For that reason, they completely close the registrar whois. Instead, they implemented the opportunity for the domain registrant to retrieve *and* share its own data:

The domain holder can request those data, or you can do so for the domain holder:

- Visit SIDN’s website in[English](https://www.sidn.nl/en/request-registrant-details) or[Dutch](https://www.sidn.nl/houdergegevens-opvragen)
- Fill in the domain name, the domain holder’s e-mail address and zip code
- SIDN will now send two links to the domain holder and administrative contact:
    - one link for the domain holder himself
    - and one link that can be shared with others
- Do not open the second link (as it can be opened only once!), but send it to the organization that you want to share the personal data with

In the day to day business with Openprovider, not many resellers will be affected. There are, however, a few situations in which we are required to confirm the registrant’s identity: when transferring a .nl domain [from quarantine](https://openprovider.help/books/domains/page/escalation-procedure-external-transfer-from-quarantine-available-for-nl-and-be), and when starting an [escalation](https://openprovider.help/books/domains/page/escalation-procedure-token-request-of-a-domain-registrant) to get the domain’s authorization code.

## **Updates to the new gTLDs**

- .moscow and .москва have extended their trademark claims period until the 4th of January 2022 (instead of the 4th of January 2021).

**Early Access Programs:**

- 10 February: .beauty, .makeup, .skin, .hair and .quest

**General Availabilities:**

# Newsletter July 2021

It’s hard to keep cool this summer with all the exciting things happening in the domain industry. Here’s what you need to know!

## **Price drop this quarter!**

Our commitment to seeing our members grow with us and helping them maximize their profit has led us to lower the prices of three of our extensions. The new prices will ‘go live’ on the 1st of July 2021:

Extension

Current price

Price from the 1st of July

.ae

AED 118.52

AED 114.71

.cz

CZK 223.00

CZK 209.00

.dk

DKK 49.52

DKK 49.30

**The domain extension update month is here**

This month is packed with updates to various extensions. Find everything you need to know right here:

- **.es**: the Spanish registry has improved its contact handling. Updating the address and telephone number information is now possible. However, it’s still necessary to assign a new handle to the domain name in order to change the email address. This feature applies to all contact information updates done after the 3rd of June.

- **.de**: authorization codes are valid for 14 days now! Up until now, they were only valid for 1 day, which although very safe, also required our resellers and domain holders to act promptly. This was not always possible and, after listening to customers’ feedback, the registry finally decided to change it.
- **.co.il**: the 90-day soft quarantine period is no longer supported. co.il domains can be restored at an additional fee for 44 days after being deleted.
- **.az**: our supplier announced a last-minute price increase, effective from the 1st of July 2021. The price for .az registrations, renewals and transfers has increased by €25,00 for all Tiers and Supreme members.
- **.рус**(.xn--p1acf): the registry will change its premium pricing on the 13th of January 2022. Currently, premium domains are expensive the first year ($210-$42,000) and can be renewed at the regular price ($8). The registry is lowering the first-year fee ($80-$2,700) and changing the renewal fee to make it match the (premium) registration fee. Domain names registered before the 13th of January 2022 will continue to be renewed at the old (standard) price.

**Multi-year SSL certificate orders are changing**

Because of the limited 1-year validity of SSL certificates, multi-year SSL certificate orders issued after the 18th of August will be configured as ‘subscription SSLs’: a series of one-year SSL certificates reissued annually. These SSL certificates will need to be re-validated and reinstalled every year, even if you order them year after year. Take a look at our [Knowledge Base](https://openprovider.help/books/ssl-certificates/page/multiyear-ssl-certificates-subscription-ssl-certificates) for more detailed information.

**Brexit update for .eu domains**

**Feature spotlight: premium domains in WHMCS**

Did you know that you can provision premium domains via the Openprovider domain module for WHMCS? Configure your module to sell premium domains in just a few minutes. The margin on these domains can be significant, with prices ranging from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

Beyond just the potential margin, enabling premium domains ensures that your clients see all possible domain types. You don’t want your clients to see that premium domains can be found on other sites but not on yours, right?!

Just make sure that the currency you have in your Openprovider reseller account is configured in your WHMCS instance, and then follow [these three steps](https://github.com/openprovider/OP-WHMCS7/blob/master/README.md#enable-premium-domains) from the module documentation.

**.io promotion update**

Great news! The ongoing .io promotion by ICB (Registry) has come to an end and, as a result, pricing has improved for new registrations, transfers and renewals. Since the 1st of July, Members now only pay $30.00 for their .io domains.

**Signing up to our Reseller Control Panel just got easier!**

This month new users signing up to Openprovider through our Reseller Control Panel (RCP) are in for a treat! We’ve improved our sign up experience to make sure nobody gets lost and everything goes as smoothly as possible.

New users who sign up through our Reseller Control Panel (RCP) are welcomed by a new screen, with a modern and fresh design.

The new RCP signup flow is faster, easier and mobile friendly.

Are you as excited as we are? This is just the first of a long list of improvements that Openprovider will roll out over the next months.

New products will be added and existing features will be redesigned. Stay tuned to our newsletter for all the latest updates!

**The Openprovider control panel is getting a new help system**

The Reseller Control Panel (RCP) allows you to handle large domain portfolios, create DNS zones, customise options for your account and so much more.

Over the last month, we have received feedback from our support team confirming that there are some parts of the control panel that a lot of users need help with. Therefore, we have decided to introduce a new help system which will provide context-based information for the specific areas we get a lot of questions about.

The new help system is currently under development and is planned to be released this quarter. We will keep you informed about the development of this new feature and we look forward to hearing your feedback once it has been released.

**Simplified domain synchronization is here!**

Have you ever encountered a situation where the domain data at the registry was different from the data stored by Openprovider? It rarely occurs, but if you’re ‘unlucky’ enough to see this happen with one of your domains, know that we’ve come up with an immediate solution: simply click the “Synchronize” button in the domain details page to force the registration data to be re-sent!

![image.png](https://openprovider.help/uploads/images/gallery/2026-08/embedded-image-2g2x7oah.png)

**Enhancing your brand image via BIMI**

Brand Indicators for Message Identification, more commonly known as BIMI, is a new email standard that works in combination with other specifications like DMARC, SPF and DKIM to allow brands to display their authenticated logos in supporting mailboxes for email messages coming from their domains. If the recipient of your email is using a mailbox provider that supports this technology, and your email meets certain authentication criteria, then your logo will appear with your email, creating a stronger brand presence and increasing your customers’ trust in your brand.

BIMI is backed by industry leaders like Google, Mailchimp, Fastmail and SendGrid (a Twilio company), and several mailbox providers like Verizon have announced their intentions to adopt and support this standard.

BIMI relies on DMARC: for your logo to appear with your email in the customer’s inbox, that email needs to have passed all DMARC authentication checks, and the DMARC policy for your domain needs to be set to ‘quarantine’ or ‘reject’.

BIMI leverages the DNS infrastructure to make it easy and convenient for brands to manage their logos. Enabling BIMI only requires you to publish a BIMI record to your domain’s DNS zone. This is a simple TXT record that points to your logo in SVG format.

Build a more secure and trusted brand by deploying BIMI!

**Updates to new gTLDs**

- **XYZ** (Registry) has relaunched the **.homes, .autos, .motorcycles, .boats and .yachts** extensions. The relaunch includes a price drop for every extension ($10.17 for Members) and a change of the premium policy. The premium price is charged for renewals as well (at the previous registry operator, it was a one-time premium fee). For existing premium domains, the renewal fee will still be the old renewal fee ($50.18 for .autos, $25.18 for the other extensions).

**Sunrises**:

- 30 August: .zuerich

**General Availabilities**:

# Newsletter June 2021

The summer is getting near and at Openprovider things are heating up! The latest news from the domain industry is right here.

## **.lb, .hamburg and .co.no prices are going up!**

For the following extensions, a price increase is scheduled:

- Due to a price adjustment from the registry on short notice, the prices for the Lebanese extensions **.com.lb, .net.lb and .org.lb** increased from the 1st of June 2021. For new registrations and renewals, the price increased by €70 (new tier prices are €107-€121); for transfers, the price increase is of €90 for all tiers (new tier prices are €127-€141).
- A currency misconfiguration has led us to correct the prices for the **.co.no** extension. From the 1st of June 2021, .co.no is charged in euros instead of Norwegian krones. The tier price is €21.00 for all tiers. Transfers are now free: no transfer fee is charged from now on. Restores are possible as well now, at a fee of €95. Note that this price change only affects .co.no, and not the native Norwegian extension .no which is not related to .co.no.
- **.hamburg**will increase its prices by €3.00 on the 1st of July 2021. The new Member price will be €33.15; all tier prices will increase by €3.00 as well.

**Virtuozzo licenses have now become officially obsolete in our API**

As you may remember, at the beginning of 2021 we announced the termination of our partnership with Virtuozzo. We want to let you know that as part of this termination we have marked all methods used for purchasing or managing Virtuozzo licenses in our REST and XML APIs as obsolete.

**Simplified .it domain transfers**

The transfer process for Italian .it domains has just been greatly simplified: the previously mandatory form, in which domain holders had to accept a series of terms before they could accept a domain transfer, has been eliminated. This form is only required for new registrations and no longer for transfers.

As a result, .it transfers will normally be completed within a day now. Take advantage of this change to move your remaining .it domains to your Openprovider account!

If you have a bigger .it portfolio with another registrar, feel free to[contact us](mailto:sales@openprovider.com)to discuss if the registry’s bulk transfer option is the best solution for you! For a one-time fee, starting at €250, and by signing a simple form, your domain names will be moved to your Openprovider account while we take care of the import of all contact and nameserver data!

**.tickets, more accessible than ever before**

Recently, the extension .tickets has been moved to XYZ LLC’s management. XYZ puts a lot of effort into increasing accessibility to domain names. As a result, the registry removed all previous restrictions from the .tickets extension: everyone can now register their .tickets domains; registration is in real time, no additional validation is performed and whois privacy protection is allowed. Find all registry policies on[nic.tickets](https://nic.tickets/registry-policies).

The last restriction to be removed is the minimum length of the domain name: that is 4 characters, until the 14th of July. On that date, the minimum length will be reduced to 1 character, like any other XYZ-operated extension.

**Updates coming to .in! Data validation and end user involvement**

NIXI, the registry for .in (India) domains, has informed us of two new projects they are starting:

**Registration data validation**

First of all, they will start to check the accuracy of registration data. Although the registry has not shared all the details with us yet, we expect this process to be similar to that of other registries: most likely we will send you a report with domains that contain invalid registration data, with a deadline to fix it. We urge you to take those emails seriously, as non-responsiveness can lead to the deletion of your domain name. We will let you know as soon as more information is available.

**Registry to offer web hosting and design services directly to domain holders**

A more worrying development is[this email](https://jan-sampark.nic.in/campaigns/2021/13-May/NIXI/index.html)sent to domain holders by the registry in mid-May. According to the text, they are about to offer free email hosting to all domain holders, as well as web hosting and web design services in the near future.

We have not received all the details from the registry yet, so the scope is not fully clear at this moment. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have more information!

**Update to long-term GRS promotion**

Since the launch of the extensions listed in the table below, GRS (registry) has been running a promotion. On the 1st of July 2021, they will update the promotion details; registration and transfer fees increase by $1.00 for the lowest-priced extensions and remain unchanged for the rest. The renewal prices increase for all extensions. From the 1st of July, the following promotional prices apply until further notice:

**The importance of a global anycast DNS service**

The Domain Name System (DNS), a decentralised system responsible for translating domain names to numerical IP addresses, is typically the first step in your customer’s journey towards your website, and therefore plays a key role in your overall customer experience.

A global, anycast DNS service provides the following advantages over traditional DNS systems:

- Faster Resolutions: the first part of a request to your website is typically a DNS lookup. A globally distributed DNS service ensures that your customers will always be connected to the closest server, resulting in lower latency and faster access times to your web properties.
- Global Presence: DNS zones are pushed to multiple DNS servers distributed around the globe, ensuring an optimal user experience for your global customers regardless of where they are.
- DDoS Protection: DNS is the first step in the journey to your website. A distributed DNS service keeps your DNS zones protected from DDoS DNS attacks at all times.
- 100% Uptime Guarantee: a DNS service with anycast capabilities ensures that your DNS zones are always online. Your websites will always be accessible regardless of regional disruptions.

At Openprovider we care about security and performance, and are always looking for ways to offer better and more reliable services to our customers. Over the next few months we will be strengthening our DNS offering to ensure we can better meet the expectations of our customers and their increasingly demanding users.

**Openprovider: coming soon to Blesta**

Openprovider is coming soon to Blesta! Hosters and domain resellers don’t have many choices when it comes to out-of-the-box billing platforms, but Blesta is quickly becoming a hot choice. Although they’ve been around for 14 years, they have seen record growth over the last few months because one of their main competitors has increased its prices.

We’ve heard from quite a few resellers who want to provision Openprovider domains via Blesta and we’re going to release a domain module soon. If there are features you need, or just want to get the latest updates about our Blesta module, please let us know: [integrations@openprovider.com](mailto:integrations@openprovider.com).

**IP address update for our domain forwarding service**

In the previous newsletter \[[https://openprovider.com/newsletter/newsletter-may-2021/](https://openprovider.com/newsletter/newsletter-may-2021/)\], we informed you about our domain forwarding service migration on the 1st of June.

Unfortunately, an incorrect IP address was communicated. The correct IP address is 34.90.130.132.

For your convenience, we will also support the communicated IP address for a period of 4 months, until the 4th of October 2021.

If you use our forwarding service for domains that run on your own nameservers, please update the IP addresses to 34.90.130.132.

The key dates are:

\* 1 June: discontinuation of IP address 52.209.188.36

\* 1 June: replacement for 34.90.130.132 (the temporary IP address 34.90.181.29 will also be functional)

\* 4 October: discontinuation of the temporary IP address 34.90.181.29.

If you use Openprovider’s nameservers, we will update the required configurations ourselves and no action will be required from your side.

**Updates to new gTLDs**

- **.spa**has extended its Landrush phase, which will end now on the 1st of October 2021 (instead of the 24th of June 2021). As a result, the General Availability will be postponed as well, however no new date is known yet.

- **.inc** and **.dealer** have migrated to another registry platform platform. No action is required from your side, but please note that all authorization codes have been reset.
- **.madrid** has extended its pre-evaluation period until the 17th of December 2021. This means that new registrations will be activated only after review by the registry. That can take up to 5 working days.
- **.basketball** and **.rugby** have finally announced their definitive launch dates: the General Availability will start on the 15th of June for .basketball and the 1st of July for .rugby. # Newsletter March 2021

March is here and it’s really packing a punch! This month we’ve got tons of news about the domain industry to share with you, from Brexit repercussions to custom domains for the beauty industry.

## **The beauty industry is in for a treat. Beauty, .Hair, .Skin, and .Makeup are here!**

XYZ is introducing the ONLY domains made specially for the beauty industry. .Beauty, .Hair, .Skin and .Makeup have been available since the 2nd of March. Don’t miss out!

Your customers will be able to:

- Enhance their domain names for flawless brand presence
- Be instantly recognized as beauty industry leaders
- Optimize their domain names to attract more organic search traffic
- Make their URLs more memorable
- Lead modern beauty fans and insiders to their websites

**.es transfers can now be canceled!**

One feature that most of our clients kept requesting for their .es domains was the ability to cancel initiated transfers. The main reasons being: domain owners changing their minds and emails sent by the registry to domain holders (including an ‘approve transfer’ link) not being received. Due to technical constraints, resellers that wanted to cancel a transfer had to contact our support department, which then manually cancelled the transfer at the registry.

That’s no longer an issue! We have now found a solution with the registry, so from now on you can cancel any incoming transfer! The process is similar to any other cancellation request, e.g., for a .com domain.

**Whois white label naming just got interesting**

At Openprovider, we try to listen to our resellers and use the feedback they give us to improve and transform into the best registrar out there! We started by implementing white label registrar naming for major ccTLDs in the Whois directory and now, since last month, this applies to the biggest gTLDs (like .com and .net) too!

Your customers will no longer find Openprovider when searching on the Whois directory, but our white label name instead! Here’s an example of a Whois look-up for a .com domain name:

**Brexit consequences for .eu and .fr domains**

AFNIC(.fr domain registry) and EURid (.eu domain registry) have published a statement regarding the Brexit policy and what it means for their top extensions:

- **.eu domains**belonging to British domain holders have been suspended since the 1st of January 2021. Until the 30th of June 2021 (this used to be the 31st of March), you can assign a new, eligible, domain holder to the domain name in order to reactivate it. On the 1st of July 2021, EURid will withdraw all unchanged domain names. From that moment on, it will no longer be possible to reactivate the domain names. On the 1st of January 2022, the domains will be deleted. Further information is available on[EURid’s Brexit notice page](https://eurid.eu/en/register-a-eu-domain/brexit-notice/).

- **.fr domains**(including AFNIC’s other extensions .re, .yt, .tf, .pm and .wf) belonging to British domain holders are not affected. The eligibility requirement stating that registrants should have an address in the European Union only applies at the moment of registration. Existing domains can be renewed, updated and transferred without any additional restrictions. However, since the 1st of January 2021 it has no longer been possible for British domain holders to register new .fr domains. Read[AFNIC’s full statement](https://www.afnic.fr/en/resources/blog/brexit-and-fr.html)for more detailed information.

**Uncle Sam lays down the law on Afilias**

At the end of 2020,[Afilias was acquired by Donuts](https://afilias.info/news/2020/12/29/donuts-acquires-afilias). Since Donuts is a US-based company, all domain registrations with Afilias now also fall under US law. This means that the registry is no longer permitted to provide services to countries, regions, entities, or individuals targeted by applicable US trade sanctions (OFAC listings).

As a result, Afilias has started strengthening their checks on the domains they manage. When a connection with a US-sanctioned country is found, the domain is suspended by the registry. If this happens to a domain you manage, you will need to change the owner of the domain (by way of connecting a new handle), so that the new owner does not violate the US trade sanctions.

Additionally, you will need to provide Openprovider with identification documentation for the new owner. This can be sent by email to the Openprovider support department. Only then will the registry consider reactivating the domain.

**A price rise is in sight for .ai**

The .ai registry has announced a $28 price increase, effective from the 15th of April 2021. The new Tier price now ranges from $192 to $230 for a 2-year registration period. Supreme Members will find updated pricing information in the Control Panel and API, or by contacting their Account Manager, after the 15th of April.

This price change applies to the top level domain .ai, as well as the second level domains .com.ai, .net.ai, .org.ai and .off.ai.

**New gTLD updates**

# Newsletter May 2021

May Day is the perfect time to catch your next big opportunity. You’ve come to the right place for the latest news from the domain industry!

## **.ai, .na and .qpon prices are changing**

Price changes have been announced for .ai, .na and .qpon and they are effective immediately.

- **.qpon:** the .qpon registry has increased its prices by $10.00 for new registrations, transfers and renewals. Domains registered before the 1st of May 2021, 14:00 UTC, will move to a special price tier and renew at $12.50 instead of the new, higher price.
- **.ai:** after the price change that we announced in our [March newsletter](https://openprovider.com/newsletter/newsletter-march-2021/) for .ai, as well as the second level domains .com.ai, .net.ai, .org.ai and .off.ai, we have been informed that the transfer price was incorrect. The new transfer price, effective immediately, has increased by $120.00, which is the transfer fee charged by the registry. The new price for .ai transfers now ranges from $312.00 to $350.00 (depending on your tier), which includes a 2-year renewal.
- **.na:**.na prices (including .com.na, .co.na and .org.na) have also changed. The new tier 8 prices are the following (check the price list in your account for the price in other tiers):

**Registry (Tier 8)**

**Transfer, renewal (Tier 8)**

.na

€3,551

€4,150 (now)

€3,351

€3,239 (now)

.co.na

€277

€99 (now)

€277

€279 (now)

.com.na

€507

€569 (now)

€337

€349 (now)

.org.na

€497

€559 (now)

€337

€339 (now)

**Small change to the API call for domain name updates**

In order to improve our processes, we are optimizing the API commands for modifying a domain name on the 1st of June 2021. A new parameter, *force\_registry\_update*, will be introduced. Without this parameter, we would only be able to send an update to the registry if the domain’s registration data was actually changed.

No changes are required from your side if you do not use our API, or if you use our API for regular domain management. Your updates to your domains’ contacts, nameservers or DNSSEC data will still be processed at the registry.

This new parameter will prove useful when the registration data at the registry is different from the data at Openprovider. This might occur, for example, after a transfer or failed update. To force the correct registration data to be sent to the registry again, you can use this new parameter with value *true*.

From the 1st of June, users of our **JSON API** can use this new parameter as follows:

put /v1beta/domains/{id}

{

… # regular domain data

“force\_registry\_update”: true,

}

From the 1st of June, users of our **XML API** can use this new parameter as follows:

<?xml version=”1.0″ encoding=”UTF-8″?>

<openXML>

<modifyDomainRequest>

… # regular domain data

<forceRegistryUpdate>1</forceRegistryUpdate>

</modifyDomainRequest>

</openXML>

**Beware! Scam attempts on .au domains are real**

The Australian registry auDA has informed us that an email phishing scam is being performed, targeting .au domain name registrants.

The emails are sent by someone posing as an auDA employee asking for either copies of identification documents or verification of contact information.

If you receive an email of this nature, do not reply to it or click any links included in it. auDA will never reach out to domain holders directly for such documents; any such request will come from Openprovider.

For more information, please refer to the registry’s [official notice](https://www.auda.org.au/news/scam-alert-email-scam-targeting-au-registrants-20-april-2021).

**UNR is selling out and UniEPS is no longer available**

UniEPS is one of the [trademark protection services](https://openprovider.help/books/domains/page/what-are-the-advantages-of-protected-marks-lists-dpml-uni-eps-and-adultblock) that we offer our clients: a blocking service for the extensions operated by UNR. However, since the 15th of March 2021, this service can’t be ordered anymore! Existing orders will be renewed at no cost, but some extensions might be removed from the service over the next period.

The reason is that registry UNR will publicly auction 23 of its extensions on the 28th of April. UNR’s portfolio includes popular extensions like .link, .help and .hosting, which will move to another registry operator after the auction. These new registry operators may decide to cancel the UniEPS and UniEPS+ services immediately.

Other trademark protection services remain active and can be ordered by contacting us:

- **DPML**, blocking over 240 extensions of registry operator Donuts
- **TREx**, a Trademark Clearinghouse service blocking 40 different extensions
- **AdultBlock**, a blocking service for the adult-targeted extensions .xxx, .adult, .porn and .sex

For more information on included extensions and pricing, take a look at [this article](https://openprovider.help/books/domains/page/what-are-the-advantages-of-protected-marks-lists-dpml-uni-eps-and-adultblock) from our Knowledge Base.

**We’re migrating our domain forwarding service!**

To accommodate the growing demand of our domain forwarding service, we are moving it to a newer, faster and more redundant backend on **Tuesday, the 1stof June 2021**. During this migration, from 01:00 to 07:00 AM UTC, it will not be possible to add new forwarders or to update existing ones. There will be no interruption to the availability of existing forwarders.

**ACTION REQUIRED:** if you use our forwarding service on domain names that use your own nameservers. As the IP address of our service changes, you will need to change it in your DNS zones as well.

The new IP address is **34.90.181.29** (this replaces the old IP address 52.209.188.36). We recommend that you carry out the update during the maintenance window defined above. For existing domain forwarders, we will keep the old server online for at least two weeks, but any changes or new forwarders will be created on the new server.

If you use Openprovider’s nameservers, we will update the required configurations ourselves and no action will be required from your side.

**Stay safe with DMARC! Soon available at Openprovider**

One of the biggest threats online businesses face today comes in the form of*phishing*attacks, where hackers make use of spoofing to perform malicious actions. Spoofing is a technique attackers often use in order to send fake messages on behalf of an organisation by forging the ‘From Address’ field of those messages.

A well known example of this is when an attacker sends messages that impersonate an organisation and request sensitive information from end users. This typically results in users exposing their credentials or providing sensitive data that can compromise their online accounts and assets.

Another consequence of these attacks is that end users end up reporting some of those fake messages as spam, preventing other legitimate emails coming from official organisations from reaching their inboxes.

Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance, more commonly known as DMARC, is a standard email authentication protocol that helps email administrators understand and prevent spoofing and phishing attacks. Working in combination with other well known standards like SPF and DKIM, DMARC allows your organisation to receive reports from receiving servers and to tell those servers what actions to take when suspicious emails coming from your domain are received.

At Openprovider, security is at the core of what we do and we take our clients’ safety very seriously. That’s why we are planning to introduce a DMARC solution over the next few months. We will keep you posted for the final release date so stay tuned and don’t miss a thing!

**Updates to new gTLDs**

- **.trust** has been cancelled unexpectedly by the registry. This extension has been in Sunrise since the 24th of March and would enter General Availability on the 28th of April, but it has been suspended indefinitely by the registry in order to apply a new and innovative usage to .trust. Further details will be shared as soon as possible.

# Newsletter November 2021

Hi! The year is nearly finished but Black Friday is just around the corner! Read our full newsletter to get this month’s latest domain related news!

## The price for .NL is going up in 2022!

SIDN increases the price of its extension every year in order to compensate its supplier’s increasing costs. Next year prices are going up by 2% and the discount that new registrars could get if they paid through certain payment methods will no longer exist. All in all, the cost price for .NL in 2022 will be € 3.19. For more information you can check out[our blog post](https://openprovider.com/blog/nl-domain-prices-just-keep-on-rising/)!

## Afilias’ extensions new home will soon be Donuts!

On November 16th, all Afilias’ extensions will be migrated to the Donuts backend (due to the acquisition of Afilias). Therefore, from 11 AM UTC to approximately 11:59 PM UTC, it will not be possible to perform any operations (creation, renewal, update) on Afilias’ domains.

## .CLICK domains are hitting the shelves!

The .CLICK registry will release thousands of domains that were previously registry-reserved on March 30th, 2022, at 16:00 UTC. These domains will have new premium tiers, and current premium registered domains will remain in their tiers.

## Close the year with a bang. .EUS is on offer!

From the 1st to the 30th of November, we will be offering 1st year .EUS domain registrations for € 1.5 (members) and €2 (non-members)!

From the 1st to the 31st of December, we will be offering 2 year .EUS domain registrations for €13 for members and €15 for non-members.

## Black Friday has come to ShortDot!

From November 19th to December 3rd, ShortDot domain prices are plummeting!

- .cyou → 1st year registrations at $0.5; renewals at $2.
- .bond → 1st year registrations at $1 and renewals at $4
- .icu → 1st year registrations at $0.65 and renewals at $2.50
- .sbs → 1st year registrations at $0.75 and renewals at $3
- .cfd → 1st year registrations at $0.90 and renewals at $3.50

## Additional contact details support for .UK domains

For .UK domain names, we now support additional contact details: the company type and the company registration number. The company registration number is taken from the existing field, the company type is a new UK-specific parameter (“legalType”), as documented in our API documentation \[[API Format Extensions Additional Data Customer - Openprovider API documentation](https://doc.openprovider.eu/API_Format_Extensions_Additional_Data_Customer)\]. Having this information in the handle will lead to fewer false negatives in Nominet’s data validation processes.

## 2nd level .au domain registration is now a reality

From March 24th, 2022, AuDA will allow 2nd level .au domains (e.g. domain.au) to be registered. Until now, only 3rd level domains could be registered (domini.com.au). A priority system will be set up, giving owners of 3rd level domains the opportunity to register their 2nd level domains first.

## Domain Control Validation (DCV) procedure changes are coming for SSL certificates

On the 15th of November, the DCV (Domain Control Validation) procedure will be adjusted to meet new requirements from the CA. Please read our[Knowledge base article](https://openprovider.help/books/ssl-certificates/page/changes-in-domain-control-validation-procedure)for more information.

## .BLOG is on sale!

From now until the end of the year, .blog premium domain names are 75% cheaper for first year registrations!

## New SSL certificate types are coming to Openprovider!

Thanks to our thriving cooperation with Sectigo, we will be soon adding new SSL certificate types to Openprovider’s portfolio. These will be:

- S/MIME (Personal ID certificates)
- Code Signing Certificates

Here are more details on what each of the above certificates provide:

- The**S/MIME certificate**allows you to digitally sign and encrypt emails. It uses the recipient’s public key to encrypt messages which only the intended recipient’s private key can decrypt. Sectigo’s secure email certificates are supported by all major email applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, Exchange, mobile operating systems and many more.
- **Code Signing certificates**allow you to digitally sign applications and software programs to verify the source of the file along with code integrity. They are very useful for software publishers to confirm that their software has not been tampered with by any outside source.

More details about pricing and provisioning flow will be provided closer to the release date!

# Newsletter October 2021

Darkness falls across the land, the midnight hour is close at hand. Watch your back and keep your eyes peeled for terrific deals this Halloween!

Read our full newsletter to get this month’s latest domain related news!

## Supported DNSEC algorithms update for .lu and .at

We have updated the list of supported DNSSEC algorithms for .lu (Luxemburg) and .at (Austria, includes .co.at and .or.at). The following algorithms are supported now: 8, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16.

## se and .nu registry has changes in store for us!

The Swedish registry, responsible for the management of .se and .nu domain names, will stop supporting administrative and technical contacts. When registering through our API, you can omit those handles and thanks to our API being backwards compatible, even if you send an administrative or technical contact, your request will be accepted and this data will be ignored.

On top of that, their Terms and Conditions have been updated. The new terms were published on the[registry’s website](https://internetstiftelsen.se/)on the 1stof October, and come into effect on the 1stof November.

## AFNIC says goodbye to domains ending in gouv.fr

The French registry AFNIC no longer accepts .fr domain names that end in '-gouv.fr', because that is too similar to the governmental websites that end in '.gov.fr'. This has been updated in the registry’s[Naming Policy](https://www.afnic.fr/wp-media/uploads/2021/07/afnic-naming-charter-2021-09-15.pdf).

## Price changes incoming for .info, .mobi, .pro, .icu, .za.com and .sa.com!

The following registries have announced a price increase of their extensions:

- .sa.com and .za.com will cost $30 more on the 30thof November 2021. The new Member price will be $99.
- Donuts announced a price increase for .info, .mobi and .pro effective from the 14thof January 2022. The new prices for registration, renewal and transfer are the following; the restore price does not change:
- - .info: after a price increase of $1.45, the new Member price will be $14.79
    - .mobi: after a price increase of $1.75, the new Member price will be $17.58
- .pro: after a price increase of $1.45, the new Member price will be $14.78
ShortDot, the .icu registry, announced a price increase on their premium domain names: premium domains registered after the 28thof February 2022 will renew at premium price. Domain names registered before this date will be grandfathered and renew at the lower, standard fee.

For all extensions, you can benefit from early renewals! If you renew your domain names before the date of the price increase, you pay the current, lower price. You can renew each domain up to a total registration period of 10 years, and thus save up to $300 per domain!

## 1 and 2 character .gal domains have arrived!

The .gal registry will open the one and two-character .gal domain registrations for everyone. Therefore, from November 4, short domain names will be available for registration.

## **Domain Forwarding IP Address Update REMINDER**

If you use our domain forwarding service for domains running on your own nameservers, remember to update the IP addresses you have configured: from the 4th of October, the only supported IP address will be **34.90.130.132**. The old IP address, 34.90.181.29, will be discontinued from that date on and the even older IP address, 52.209.188.36, was already deactivated on the 1st of June.

Domain forwarders that are NOT configured with the new IP address, **34.90.130.132,** will stop working on the 4th of October.

However, if you are using Openprovider’s nameservers, you won’t have to do a thing: we will update the required configurations ourselves and the forwarding services won’t experience any interruptions.

You can find more details in our [June newsletter](https://openprovider.com/newsletter/newsletter-june-2021/).

**All EEA citizens can now get a .EU domain!**

Since [October 2019](https://lp.openprovider.com/hubfs/Openprovider%20News%20Flash%20October%202019%20-%20EN-1.pdf), citizens of EU member states were made eligible for a .eu domain registration (including .ею and .ευ), regardless of their place of residence. However, there was always one important gap in the policies: while a *resident* of Norway, Liechtenstein or Iceland (part of the EEA, but not of the EU) was eligible for a .eu domain, a *citizen* of one of those countries living outside the EEA was not (for example, an Icelander living in Australia).

After the update to the [registration policies](https://eurid.eu/en/other-infomation/document-repository/) carried out on the 2nd of August, EURid has finally fixed this issue. Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland are now officially considered ‘countries of citizenship’.

**The Reseller Control Panel just keeps getting better and better!**

Our development team has been working really hard to bring new functionalities to the Reseller Control Panel and to modernise existing ones. Over the last few months, we have introduced a new Dashboard, a redesigned signup page and a more efficient domain search.

However, there is still much more to come! From now, up until December, we’ll be bringing you exciting news about new functionalities that are going to be released!

On a side note, we are aware that some of you might still be using the very first version of the Reseller Control Panel.

![old-RCP.png](https://openprovider.help/uploads/images/gallery/2026-08/embedded-image-almu2iss.png)

We would like to inform you that we are planning on eventually discontinuing the old version of RCP in order to make our system lighter and faster!

If you haven’t done so already, this is the perfect time to switch to the new control panel. Stay tuned to our newsletter and stay up-to-date with all the future updates of the Reseller Control Panel.

**Our Premium DNS service is finally here!**

A couple of months ago we announced our intentions to strengthen our DNS offering to cater to your growing needs as a reseller, and our teams have been working hard to make this happen. Today we are happy to announce that our new Premium DNS service is finally here!

Openprovider’s Premium DNS is the latest addition to our product portfolio. We are extending our successful collaboration with Sectigo, a global leader in SSL certificates and web security products, to introduce a Premium DNS service that will be the perfect complement to our current DNS offering. While our standard DNS service is sufficient for users who only have basic requirements when it comes to DNS resolution, we recognise the increasing customer demands in this area, and are launching this new product to help you fill the gap.

Our Premium DNS service, powered by Sectigo, can satisfy the requirements of your most demanding customers by providing the following benefits:

- IPv6 compliant recursive DNS.
- Optimization with improved Time To First Byte (TTFB) and Smart Routing, resulting in lightning speeds.
- Global Anycast Network that offers closer server location and reduces latency.
- Built-in ‘on by default’ DDoS protection to block attacks.
- 99.99% uptime guarantee.

As a reseller, this product represents a unique opportunity to create a new revenue stream by upselling a premium service from a globally recognised security brand, and to improve customer retention.

What are you waiting for? Try it now!

**Extra eligibility check for .FR**

.FR domain name owners (including the registry’s other extensions .re, .tf, .pm, .wf and .yt), should reside in one of the member states of the European Union, Norway, Iceland, Switzerland or Liechtenstein. This requirement is not technically enforced by AFNIC (registry); however, the number of checks on .FR domain ownership requests has increased.

For that reason, we have built this same verification in our own system: registering a .FR domain for an ineligible domain owner will result in an error from now on, as will requesting an ineligible domain transfer or update.

Existing domains currently connected to an ineligible registrant will not be affected, but should you carry out an update, the domain owner will need to be corrected. Note that you can always use our trustee service if your customer has no eligible address.

**Openprovider joins SIDN’s LEMMINGS pilot**

SIDN Labs, part of the .nl registry SIDN, are constantly working on making the .nl zone safer and more secure. One of their latest projects is called LEMMINGS. The goal of the project is to prevent cybercrime after domain expirations and deletions and has already been meeting expectations since June through an internally-run pilot.

The project came to exist due to deleted domains being used with ill intentioned purposes. For the .nl zone, well-known cases are domain names from the Dutch police and a healthcare organization, through which sensitive information was disclosed. A more personal type of example is a domain that is linked to a social media account. If this domain expires and is re-registered, the new registrant will be able to receive any email sent by the social media platform, including password resets.

How does LEMMINGS try to prevent this from happening? SIDN Labs monitors the DNS traffic of all .nl domains during their quarantine period. Any MX query seen for such a domain name indicates that someone is trying to send an email to the deleted domain. After filtering out spam, marketing mailings, emails from social media platforms and other forms of bulk messaging, SIDN Labs can determine if the remaining email is legitimate (defined as email deliberately sent to an individual recipient by a person or entity).
