# .nz

<div id="bkmrk-registrationsuccessf"><details><summary>Registration</summary>

Successful domain registration via [RCP](https://rcp.openprovider.eu/web/action/index#/domain/register) or [API](https://doc.openprovider.eu/API_Module_Domain_createDomainRequest) requires:

- two or more nameservers or a nameserver group

If you are registering a .nz (top level) domain and the same domain name already exists in one of the second level domains (like .co.nz), it is mandatory to use theauthcode of that domain to register the .NZ domain name.   
  
**Important!**

The DNC (Domain Name Commission, the regulator for .NZ) may apply a **Compliance Lock** when a .nz domain is **under investigation** for compliance with the .nz Rules , most often during the **Data Validation** process.

Typical reasons:

- The registrant (Domain Name Holder) could not be contacted.
- Registration details are incorrect, misleading, or incomplete.
- The registrant failed to provide identity verification when requested.
- The registrant does not meet the eligibility requirements under the .nz Rules.

While a Compliance Lock is in place, the domain can not be updated, transfered or deleted.  
  
The lock can only be lifted once the **registrant resolves the underlying compliance issue directly with DNC**:

1. The registrant contacts DNC via **<info@dnc.org.nz>** directly and verifies their registration / identity details.
2. Once DNC is satisfied, DNC removes the lock (and lifts the suspension if one was applied).

Openprovider can **not** remove the lock, update the domain nor act for the registrant or reseller. Only the registrant himself can request DNC to verify their data and remove the lock.

Successful domain transfer via [RCP](https://rcp.openprovider.eu/web/action/index#/domain/transfer) or [API](https://doc.openprovider.eu/API_Module_Domain_transferDomainRequest) requires:

- authorisation code.
- two or more nameservers or a nameserver group
- registrant [e-mail address verification](https://openprovider.help/books/domains/page/registrant-email-verification-icann-contact-validation) applies

  
Transfer authcode is valid for 30 days - which can be reset from RCP.

UDAI (which was in use earlier) has been replaced with normal authcodes, which can be retrieved or reset from RCP. This code is valid for 30 days.

- Quarantine period: 90 days  
    *During this period, an expired or deleted domain name can be reactivated at an additional fee.*
