NIC.NI Registry Policy Changes Affecting .NI Domains

Overview

The NIC.NI registry has announced a reorganization of its operations to align with new national legal requirements in Nicaragua. As a result, new restrictions and validation procedures have been implemented for the registration and renewal of .ni domain names.

These changes are mandatory and apply to all registrars and domain holders without exception.


Key Changes from NIC.NI

1. Compliance with Cybercrime Law (Ley N° 1042 - LEY ESPECIAL DE CIBERDELITOS)

All .ni domain names must comply with the provisions of Nicaragua's Cybercrime Law. Domains associated with content or activities that are prohibited under this law cannot be registered or renewed.

2. Prohibited Content Categories

NIC.NI will not permit the registration or renewal of domains that are related to:

Domains falling under these categories will be automatically rejected.
 

3. Registry-Led Validation Process

NIC.NI will conduct manual validation checks on all domain applications to ensure compliance with their new policies.
