# .aero registration fails with an "XML parser" error

## Symptoms

When you register a .aero domain, the order fails with an error like this:

> Incorrect contact's details: XX000000-XX, E00000, Errors occurred during processing., Parser error., XML parser = The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup.

This happens even though the .aero ID and password (key) were issued by the registry and are correct.

## Cause

.aero requires proof of aviation relationship. You enter it in the contact as:

- **.aero ID**, for example `ENSD-12345`
- **.aero Password**, the key issued by the registry

If the key contains the symbols `<`, `>` or `&`, our system cannot read it correctly and the order is rejected. Other symbols (quotes, backslash, brackets and so on) are not a problem.

## Solution

In the **.aero Password** field, replace those three symbols like this:

<div class="epitaxy-table-scroll" id="bkmrk-if-the-key-has-type-"><table class="[&_td]:min-w-24 [&_th]:min-w-24"><thead><tr><th scope="col">If the key has</th><th scope="col">Type this instead</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td>`&`</td><td>`&amp;`</td></tr><tr><td>`<`</td><td>`&lt;`</td></tr><tr><td>`>`</td><td>`&gt;`</td></tr></tbody></table>

</div>Leave every other character as it is.

**Example**

- Key from the registry: `<Ab1]xY_z\q9>Kd8T'a"bF`
- Enter in the .aero Password field in RCP: `&lt;Ab1]xY_z\q9&gt;Kd8T'a"bF`

Save the contact and register the domain again.

## Good to know

- You do not need a new key. The registry cannot generate a new one, and yours is valid.
- If you register .aero domains directly in another registrar's panel, enter the key exactly as issued there, without replacing any symbols.
- If the error continues after this, contact Support and include the domain name and the time of the failed order.
